Ecological Restoration Services

RES' Ecological Restoration Services division (ERS) offers clients a wealth of technical knowledge and experience. Led by Ronald Gremillion, our Vice President of Land Management, our team can manage the construction and ongoing maintenance of large and small projects alike.

Equipped with the necessary resources needed for the reforestation of wetlands, ERS provides all services necessary to implement the project as detailed in the ecological restoration plan. This includes site evaluation, preparation, plant identification, tree planting, and post planting maintenance such as noxious and invasive species control. ERS also performs all necessary work to implement appropriate hydrology restoration measures including water control structures, ditch plugs, filling ditches and/or drains, and rehabilitation of stream channels.

Our restoration services provide significant improvement to aquatic resources and watershed functions by restoring wildlife habitat, enhancing water quality of the general area, providing floodwater retention benefits and contributing to the protection of groundwater.

We also have the expertise to restore aquatic linear systems through stream channel restoration, bank stabilization, stream habitat recovery, impoundment removal, livestock exclusion devices and natural buffer establishment.

Coastal Restoration Services

Our Ecological Restoration Services division has delivered and planted hundreds of thousands of marsh grass and vegetative plant matter in support of coastal restoration efforts along the Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coast.

  • The State of Louisiana and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana through the Louisiana Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration awarded the East Grand Terre Vegetative Planting Project in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana to the ERS team. Species of native coastal plants including cordgrass, sea oats, bitter panicum and gulf slue stem, totaling over 50,000 plugs and plants for coastal stabilization efforts were supplied and planted this Coastal Impact Assistance Program.
  • Louisiana Department of Natural Resources on behalf of Vermilion Parish Police Jury selected the Ecological Restoration Services team to pull, deliver and plant 4,500 California Bulrush plugs. ERS installed the plugs out of Intracoastal City on terraces built on the north side of Vermilion Bay.
  • Lafourche-Terrebonne Soil and Water Conservation District awarded a project to pull and deliver 8,000 vermillion smooth cordgrass plugs.
  • USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service awarded a project to pull and supply 16,000 smooth cordgrass plugs for terraces in Sabine Bay

Nursery Operations

We operate a rapidly expanding marsh nursery near Point Aux Chene, Louisiana supplying several species of coastal grasses and plants to commercial clients, municipalities, parishes, counties, state and federal agencies to aid their restorative efforts along the Gulf Coast. The ERS team uses proper marsh planting equipment allowing us to cultivate and transplant marsh grasses for the restoration of tidal and non-tidal marsh.
